SUMMARY:The EIT Digital Challenge 2022 is on the lookout for the best European deep-tech scaleups: are you one of them?
DESCRIPTION:The EIT Digital Challenge\, the leading competition for European digital deep tech companies\, is now accepting applications. \nFast-growing start-ups with existing customers – so called scaleups – are invited to apply in one of five thematic areas: Digital Tech\, Digital Cities\, Digital Industry\, Digital Wellbeing and Digital Finance. \nThe best five companies will receive a full year of tailored support from the EIT Digital Accelerator team\, worth €50\,000. The application deadline is 19 September 2022. \n“The EIT Digital Challenge aims to identify the best European deep tech entrepreneurs and help them scale up their businesses internationally\, supporting the European deep tech ecosystem. We will select the top 20 companies  and invite them to an exclusive closed-door event at the end of October where they will have the opportunity to pitch to a jury of high-profile corporates and investors\,” says Diva Tommei\, Head of the EIT Digital Accelerator. \nThe five winners will get coached for investor readiness and then be introduced to top investors from a network of 1000+ VCs from all over Europe. They will also get market readiness coaching and strategic go-to-market support\, facilitating access to international prospects. \nIn addition to that\, the winners will gain access to EIT Digital’s pan-European innovation network of 350+ partners and enjoy great international visibility by means of EIT Digital’s network channels. \n“When we took part in the Challenge\, last year\, we were really impressed by the level of the companies that we saw pitching. That made us even prouder of being selected as winners. Afterwards\, the support of the EIT Digital Accelerator helped us promote and scaleup our technology at the international level\, introducing us to other top European players\,” says Maxine Roper\, CEO of Connecting Food\, the company that won the 2021 edition. \nSince its launch in 2014\, the competition has attracted thousands of applications from more than 33 European countries. Many of the winning scaleups have moved on to become internationally successful companies. \nProminent award winners include KONUX\, Medicus.AI\, SidekickHealth and Connecting Food. \nHow to apply\nThe deadline for applications is 19 September 2022. For further information on selection criteria\, and to apply\, please visit www.eitdigital.eu/challenge.

SUMMARY:Hackathon: 24/7 The sky is not the limit
DESCRIPTION:Air quality is important 24/7. That’s why we’re going to put in these hours to help improve the air quality around us. An unseen but not undetected societal problem hacked by everyone in it. This time the sky is NOT the limit. \nDid you know … \nThat air pollution shortens the life of the average person in The Netherlands by 9 months? \nAir quality and air pollution has an effect on us all. \nTherefore\, it is time for the next hackathon at Stadslab Eindhoven! During the weekend of the 3rd  and 4th of June\, we will hack the topic of ‘air quality’\, which is extremely relevant due to the big effects it has on health\, mobility and agriculture. That is why several Dutch governmental organisations have written the ‘Schone Lucht Akkoord’. This document contains concrete ambitions to permanently improve the air quality in the Netherlands by 2030. There is already a lot of knowledge and data on air quality and pollution available\, but how can we use that information to improve the air quality and thus our lives? That’s why we’re all needed to come up with effective\, impactful and feasible solutions. So get your game face on\, sign up here and we will see you at Stadslab Eindhoven! \nThe whole programme will be announced later on the website and socials so keep an eye out. \nThis hackathon is in collaboration with Fontys Hogescholen\, AiREAS and TNO. \nWhat is a hackathon? \nA hackathon is a ‘pressure cooker session’ during which several multidisciplinary teams are dedicated to hack the chosen societal problem. ‘Hacking the problem’ means coming up with a solution that (slightly) improves the current situation. Everyone can join! Everyone has a different view on the problem which means the problem will be viewed and questioned from different angles. Thus everyone has a different perspective on the solution. Together we will hack the problem and create change! \nNOTE: the language during the event is English. However you can decide within your group which language to speak. \nREGISTER
